Job summary

SOLIMAN ECOWASTE MANAGEMENT CORPORATION in Pampanga seeks a Sewage Treatment Plant Operator to oversee daily STP operations, monitoring, and basic maintenance to ensure compliance with environmental and company standards.

You will operate pumps, blowers, aerators, dosing pumps, and the screw press for sludge dewatering, record operating data, collect samples, and assist in preventive maintenance and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Experience operating STP or wastewater treatment is preferred.
• Able to read and record monitoring data accurately.
• Willing to work shifts and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the Sewage Treatment Plant during assigned duty hours.
• Check condition and performance of STP equipment including pumps, blowers, aerators, valves, pipelines, dosing pumps, clarifier and tanks.
• Operate the screw press for sludge dewatering and manage generated sludge.
• Monitor wastewater flow, water level, air supply and treatment process.
• Record daily operation data and document abnormalities in logs.
• Assist in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.

Job description

Sewage Treatment Plant Operator (STP Operator)

The Sewage Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of the Sewage Treatment Plant to ensure that wastewater is properly treated before discharge. The STP Operator shall operate treatment equipment such as pumps, blowers, aerators, tanks, valves, dosing systems, and sludge dewatering equipment such as screw press, while ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate and monitor the Sewage Treatment Plant during assigned duty hours.

2. Check the condition and performance of STP equipment, including:

   • Pumps

   • Blowers

   • Aerators

   • Valves and pipelines

   • Chemical dosing pumps

   • Clarifier and equalization tanks

   • Sludge drying or dewatering system

   • Screw press machine

3. Operate the screw press for sludge dewatering and ensure proper handling of generated sludge.

4. Monitor wastewater flow, water level, air supply, sludge condition, and treatment process.

5. Conduct regular inspection of tanks, motors, pumps, pipelines, control panels, and other STP components.

6. Assist in collecting wastewater samples for laboratory testing or monitoring.

7. Record daily STP operation data, equipment status, chemical consumption, sludge volume, and abnormalities in the logbook.

8. Prepare and assist in the proper storage, handling, and dosing of treatment chemicals.

9. Report immediately any equipment malfunction, abnormal odor, overflow, leakage, unusual noise, or process problem to the supervisor.

10. Perform basic cleaning and housekeeping of the STP area.

11. Assist in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of STP equipment.

12. Ensure proper segregation, collection, storage, and disposal of sludge and other STP-related waste.

13. Follow safety procedures when handling wastewater, chemicals, sludge, and operating machines.

14. Use required Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, boots, mask, goggles, and safety uniform.

15. Support compliance with environmental permits, DENR requirements, company policies, and safety standards.

16. Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

1. At least High School Graduate, Vocational Graduate, or College Level.

2. Preferably with experience in operating a Sewage Treatment Plant, wastewater treatment facility, or similar plant operation.

3. Knowledge in operating STP equipment such as pumps, blowers, aerators, dosing pumps, and screw press is an advantage.

4. Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment process is preferred.

5. Able to read and record monitoring data accurately.

6. Able to perform basic equipment inspection, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting.

7. Physically fit and willing to work in wastewater treatment areas.

8. Willing to work on shifting schedule, weekends, holidays, or extended hours when needed.

9. Must be responsible, observant, and safety-conscious.

10. Must be willing to wear PPE and follow company safety rules.

11. Experience in environmental, sanitation, utility, or plant operations is an advantage.
