Job summary

Summit Media’s Smartparenting.com.ph unit is seeking a Staff Writer on a probationary basis. The writer will produce content in multiple multimedia formats for the website and social channels, and monitor reliable sources and official releases.

They may handle admin tasks, attend event coverages, and coordinate with contributors, with a Sunday shift preferred. This role supports diverse brands under Summit Media and requires strong writing, interviewing, and social media skills to meet brand

Qualifications

Job Summary - Staff Writer

The writer is expected to produce content in different multimedia formats such as (but not limited to) short and long-form articles, art card text, photo and video captions for the website and social media properties. He/ she/ They will also monitor reliable sources of information (official company releases, details from event coverage, legitimate social media channels).

The writer may also be asked to do admin-related work such as handling social media pages, attending event coverages, and coordinating with contributors. This position entails one weekend duty shift, preferably a Sunday. ( Ideal shift is 10 am to 7 pm). This post is not brand-centric, and he/she/they may be assigned to work for other brands under Summit Media.

• Writes a clear, effective copy that fits the voice of the brand
• Speed is of essence: expected to break news for the appropriate brand
• Articles may be in the form of the following: straight news, features, personality features, OP-EDs, listicles, affiliate, and SEO
• Interviewing skills - whether online or onsite
• Social media savvy
• Actively pitch story ideas
• Team player: Able to work with a team composed of members with varying backgrounds

Position Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Vocational Diploma/Short Course Certificate, Bachelor's/College Degree, Advertising/Media, Journalism, Humanities/Liberal Arts, Mass Communications, or equivalent
• Experience in breaking news is preferred
