Job summary

Perplexity is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to build and evolve the software, automations, and systems that power our security operations. This role focuses on engineering security tools and internal AI-driven agents that improve detection and response, vulnerability management, and the overall security posture of our products and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer with focus on security tools or security engineering.
• Proficiency in a major language (Python, Go, or TypeScript) and building production services or internal tools.
• Experience with alert enrichment, triage workflows, or incident response tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software and automation to improve detection and response programs.
• Implement and enhance internal AI agents and security bots for monitoring and investigations.
• Develop workflows for bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure, including triage and remediation tracking.
• Threat model new features with product and engineering, adding mitigations and guardrails.
• Contribute to secure-by-default libraries and patterns to help teams build secure features.
• Integrate security signals from cloud, endpoints, SaaS, apps into pipelines for detection.
• Build automation to reduce manual work in incident response and containment.
• Collaborate with security and software engineers to review designs and code.
