Job summary

MicroSourcing in Cebu, Philippines is seeking a Software QA Engineer (Automation & System Testing) to join our hybrid team on night shifts. You will execute end-to-end testing across web UI, APIs, databases, and background jobs.

Build and maintain automated tests with Playwright or pytest, investigate defects, and leverage AI tools to accelerate testing. We value data quality, privacy, and robust defect reporting in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Professional QA/testing experience on production web applications with strong exploratory and regression testing capabilities.
• Ability to test across full-stack layers (UI, API, database, queues) rather than browser-only manual testing.
• Practical experience inspecting HTTP/API requests, status codes, and reading basic application logs.
• Proven test automation experience (or demonstrated ability to build automated checks using Playwright, pytest, or similar tools).
• Strong attention to data quality, privacy, permissions, and failure handling in a web software environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end functional, exploratory, and regression testing across web UI, APIs, databases, and asynchronous backend systems.
• Validate complex AI agent behaviors, non-deterministic workflows, and background job states across realistic operational scenarios.
• Build and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright, pytest, or fit-for-purpose API testing tools.
• Investigate system defects using browser dev tools, HTTP payloads, database queries, and application logs to produce actionable bug reports.
• Leverage AI-native tools to generate test matrices, draft automation scripts, and accelerate root-cause analysis.

Your Role

As a Software QA Engineer (Automation & System Testing), you will:

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• Professional QA/testing experience on production web applications with strong exploratory and regression testing capabilities.


• Ability to test across full-stack layers (UI, API, database, queues) rather than browser-only manual testing.


• Practical experience inspecting HTTP/API requests, status codes, and reading basic application logs.


• Proven test automation experience (or demonstrated ability to build automated checks using Playwright, pytest, or similar tools).


• Strong attention to data quality, privacy, permissions, and failure handling in a web software environment.

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Demonstrated proficiency using modern AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor) to multiply QA testing speed and automation coverage.


• Experience testing asynchronous, event-driven, or queue-based systems (SQS, Redis, webhooks, background jobs).


• Hands-on Playwright test automation experience and debugging flaky tests.


• SQL proficiency to directly query and validate data states in relational databases.


• Background in healthcare software testing or privacy-sensitive web applications.
