Job summary

Avaloq is seeking a Software Engineer within the Securities Operations team, spread across multiple development centers. The role involves developing features, supporting a European customer base, and working with PL/SQL and Avaloq Script for core modules such as Securities Trading and Corporate Actions.

You will collaborate with team leads, product owners, and analysts, participate in client workshops, and contribute to automated testing and quality assurance in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of database technologies (SQL, Oracle PL/SQL).
• Knowledge of Java; Python or C++ is a plus.
• Aptitude to learn business needs and deliver clean, high-quality code.
• Structured, autonomous approach to solving complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Team Lead, Product Owner, Business Analysts, and other engineers.
• Draft solution designs and review with leads and architects.
• Attend client workshops and support business analysts in requirements analysis.
• Design, develop and maintain robust solutions within the team’s remit.
• Improve and optimize existing functionalities.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and ensure quality assurance.
• Take ownership of your area of expertise.
• Work with agile Mindset and Jira for ticketing.

Job Description

The Securities Operations team is a dynamic team of Software Engineers and Business Analysts spread across several development centers. We follow an agile process, working closely with the clients and related teams to develop product features and provide support to our extensive European customer base.

We work with customers and partners to develop and deliver innovative solutions to meet market demands. The team is part of many exciting and challenging projects relating to several initiatives. We are the experts in Avaloq for the Securities Trading, Transaction Reporting, Securities Settlement, Reconciliation and Corporate Actions business. You will have the opportunity to develop software in PL/SQL plus our own Avaloq Script language for those modules.

Your key tasks

• Closely collaborate with the Team Lead, Product Owner, Business Analysts, and other Software Engineers


• Write solution designs for new developments and have them reviewed with our technical leads and architects


• Participate in client workshops and support our business analysts in requirements analysis


• Design, develop and maintain thought-out solutions within the team’s responsibility


• Improve and optimize existing functionalities


• Develop and maintain automated tests, quality insurance


• Take ownership and responsibility for your area of expertise


• To work with agile mindset, process, and ticketing platforms (Jira)

Qualifications

• Strong proven track record of relevant software development experience of minimum 3 Years.


• Good knowledge and sound understanding of database technologies (SQL, Oracle PL/SQL)


• Knowledge of Java programming languages. Python, C++ or similar can be valuable.


• Eager to learn and understand the business needs aiming to provide clean designs and high-quality code


• Strong conceptual and analytical mind with a structured and autonomous approach to work on complex technical and business problems

It would be a real bonus if you have:

• Experience in the financial industry and/or securities trading topics.


• Experience with other Trading System IT vendors.


• University degree in Computer Science or related discipline (preferable)


• Knowledge in domain specific standards for securities trading like FIX protocol, SWIFT MT or MX (ISO20022)
