Helix is hiring Software Engineer II to join our global engineering teams in a role focused on building scalable, AI-enabled software for genomic medicine. You’ll contribute across the full development lifecycle, work with AI agents, and collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to ship reliable solutions.

The role offers hybrid/remote options with growth opportunities in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software engineering experience required.
Proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Python, Java, or similar); TypeScript is a plus for Enterprise Tools roles.
Experience connecting APIs and working with databases.
Familiarity with cloud basics (AWS or similar).
Hands-on experience directing AI coding agents as part of workflow.
Strong fundamentals: readable, tested code and willingness to review feedback.
Self-directed, proactive, and able to surface blockers early.
Willingness to learn new domains (lab operations, genomics, internal tooling).
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

Contribute to projects across the full development lifecycle, delivering features and fixing bugs.
Work with AI agents as a standard part of shipping software; define tasks clearly for agents.
Write well-tested, readable code and participate in reviews.
Collaborate with team, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements.
Develop familiarity with Helix’s products and cloud infrastructure, growing ownership.
Proactively surface problems and questions, not waiting for direction.
