Job summary

Sinch ClickSend is a SaaS/CPaaS platform enabling SMBs to send and receive SMS, MMS, emails and more. The Software Engineer will join a product squad to build a modern messaging platform, contributing to design, implementation, testing and deployment.

The role emphasizes scalable microservices, AWS-based services, code quality, and collaboration with product, QA and design teams to deliver business outcomes. Remote work is available globally.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with production systems.
• 3+ years of hands-on NodeJS and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of backend ecosystems including SQL/NoSQL databases and messaging brokers.
• Proven AWS experience with ECS/Fargate, Lambda, DynamoDB/RDS/Aurora, SQS/SNS/Kinesis.
• Experience architecting end-to-end microservices and event-driven architectures.

Software Engineer

Sinch ClickSend

ClickSend is business communications software, enabling companies of all shapes and sizes to easily send and receive SMS, MMS, Rich Media, Email, Voice and even Post worldwide via our very intuitive web app, much loved API docs and thousands of integration partners. ClickSend has SMS at its core and powers billions of messages worldwide but has expanded to offer a richer suite of products, providing choice and context to business communications. ClickSend isa SaaS product (well, more a CPaaS) focused on the SMB sector andhas thousands of new customers sign up to its platform each month, and it's growing year on year.ClickSend is a global company, part of the Sinch Group with a strong foothold in Australia/NZ, USA/Canada and UK/Europe, but is used, and loved, by businesses all around the world.

As a Software Engineer, you'll join one of our product engineering squads and help ClickSend build our exciting new modern messaging platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and maintain features independently, from requirements through to production.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that follows team standards and best practices.
• Break down moderately complex problems into well-scoped tasks and deliver them on time.
• Take part in technical design discussions, contribute ideas and weigh trade-offs.
• Review peers’ code and give constructive, actionable feedback.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., CircleCI, Terraform) to keep deployments reliable.
• Develop and run services on AWS, with attention to performance, security and cost.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot incidents and contribute to root-cause analysis and fixes.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration and end-to-end) to keep quality high.
• Keep technical documentation, runbooks and architecture notes up to date.
• Work with product managers, QA, designers and other engineering teams to deliver business outcomes.
• Find and address technical debt, and suggest improvements to tools, processes and system design.
• Stay current with relevant technologies and share what you learn with the team.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes

• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping and maintaining production software
• At least 3 years of recent, hands-on experience with NodeJS and TypeScript
• Strong knowledge of backend ecosystems including SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging brokers (e.g., SQS, RabbitMQ), and common software design patterns
• Proven AWS expertise across core services including ECS/Fargate, Lambda, EC2 DynamoDB/RDS/Aurora, SQS/SNS/Kinesis etc
• Hands-on experience architecting end-to-end systems — translating business requirements into full technical designs covering API design, data models, and infrastructure
• Experience designing and operating microservices and event-driven architectures built for scalability, resilience, and high performance
• Deep testing knowledge across unit, integration, and E2E testing with hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test suites integrated into CI/CD
• Security-first mindset with experience building secure services and implementing best practices for observability and maintainability
• Actively leverages AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and accelerate development
• Passionate about mentoring engineers and communicating complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative, positive, and approachable — someone who adds to a "win together" team culture
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
