Job summary

Gruner is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Manila office, focusing on hydroelectric and dam projects. You will design, dimension and integrate mechanical and electrical equipment into civil structures, with emphasis on powerhouses, and participate in tender preparation and site monitoring.

The role requires a strong background in reinforced concrete for hydropower, collaboration with mechanical and electrical teams, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (M.Eng. or MSc.).
• At least 10 years of proven experience in structural engineering, with a strong portfolio of successful local and international projects, with specific reference to powerhouses and appurtenant structures.
• Extensive experience in the conception, design, and construction follow-up of reinforced concrete structures for hydropower projects
• Experience in the coordination of the design of civil works with hydro-electromechanical equipment for hydropower projects.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to ensure close communication with mechanical and electrical specialists.
• Proficiency in English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Participate / review the design and dimensioning of structural engineering works related to hydro powerhouses and appurtenant structures (intakes, outlets, spillways, etc.).
• Monitor and oversee project, execution plans and methodologies to ensure adherence to specifications, timelines and international standards.

Position overview

The Structural Engineer in the hydroelectric and dam sector will be responsible for the design, dimensioning, and integration of mechanical and electrical equipment requirements into civil structures, particularly in the hydropower sector and with specific reference to powerhouses. The position requires involvement in our projects in the Philippines, and it will be performed from our office in Manila, with site visits.
