Bevaya is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to build high-reliability AI-first workflow engines for the insurance sector. You will design and run backend microservices and asynchronous workers using TypeScript and Python, backed by PostgreSQL, with a modern React frontend.

You will partner with product teams, surface edge cases early, and use AI tooling to accelerate delivery while ensuring data integrity and fault tolerance.

Formación

• 5+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating production backend microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Strong command of Python or TypeScript, with ability to work across both languages.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals, including concurrency, asynchronous task processing, idempotency, and failure recovery.
• Strong problem-solving skills and collaboration across technical and business teams.
• Experience with relational database design, indexing, and query optimization (preferably PostgreSQL).
• Track record of evaluating requirements, spotting edge cases, and proposing pragmatic technical tradeoffs before coding.
• Experience with automated testing, debugging, performance optimization, and version control.
• Familiarity integrating AI developer tools into daily engineering workflows.

About the Role

Bevaya builds high-reliability, AI-first workflow automation engines for the insurance sector. Our platform orchestrates complex business logic, document processing, and automated decision-making where data integrity, auditability, and execution guarantees are critical.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer who brings strong systems instincts, analytical depth, and pragmatic judgment to product engineering. Our backend services and asynchronous workers are built primarily in TypeScript and Python, backed by PostgreSQL, with a modern React frontend.

In this role, you will act as an active product partner—evaluating requirements critically, exposing unhandled edge cases before committing code, and utilizing modern AI tooling to multiply your delivery speed. You will own services end-to-end, with a focus on building resilient, fault-tolerant software that directly addresses high-stakes business workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain resilient backend services and asynchronous workflows that power complex insurance lifecycles and document intelligence.

• Collaborate closely with product and domain teams to translate business needs into technical reality—critically analyzing requirements, surfacing unhandled edge cases early, and advocating for simpler solutions.

• Architect for operational reliability, ensuring fair multi-tenant isolation, mitigating resource contention, and designing tasks to recover cleanly from timeouts and system failures.

• Step into our React frontend when needed to build operational dashboards, administrative tooling, and workflow inspection views following existing patterns.

• Leverage modern AI developer tooling (code generation, test scaffolding, and refactoring tools) to eliminate routine boilerplate and maintain high engineering velocity.

• Own services end-to-end, from schema design and automated testing through deployment, observability, and production troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating production backend microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.

• Strong command of any modern backend language (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, etc.), with the ability to work comfortably across TypeScript and Python.

• Solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals, including concurrency, asynchronous task processing, idempotency, and failure recovery.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

• Experience with relational database schema design, indexing, and query optimization (preferably PostgreSQL).

• Track record of critically evaluating product requirements, spotting unhandled edge cases, and proposing pragmatic technical tradeoffs before writing code.

• Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and communicate recommendations clearly.

• Experience with automated testing, debugging, performance optimization, and version control.

• Demonstrated comfort integrating AI developer tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) into your daily engineering workflow.

• History of driving engineering standards through high-signal code reviews and lightweight architecture design discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience building or operating durable workflows with Temporal or Cadence.

• Experience architecting multi-tenant backend systems with strict tenant isolation and fair resource allocation.

• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and object storage (specifically Azure Blob Storage or AWS S3).

• Comfort navigating ambiguity, self-directing priorities, and shipping pragmatically in a fast-moving engineering environment.
