Job summary

P&A Grant Thornton Philippines is seeking a Senior Reporting Specialist to support the Management Reporting Manager in preparing group reports for each accounting period close and ensure data integrity across systems.

The role involves IFRS reporting, data reconciliations, and collaboration with Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams to ensure accurate IFRS 17 closings and audit readiness, while driving process improvements and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or Finance is required.
• CPA is preferred.
• Good understanding of GAAP.
• Preferably with at least two (2) years of experience in Accounting or Finance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of internal reports during each period-end close.
• Reconcile accounting data from IFRS 4 Trial Balance to IFRS 17 Trial Balance.
• Liaise with Finance and other relevant teams to gather pertinent information.
• Perform checks and reconciliations on data transferred from SunGL to OneStream.
• Perform analytics on SAS and OneStream data, particularly on investment results and non-operating items within the P&L.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Work with Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams to close IFRS 17 reporting requirements.
• Perform cross-system checks for ETLs, SAS, SunGL, and OneStream for quarterly runs.
• Investigate and resolve reporting and system issues for completeness and accuracy.
• Communicate issues and improvement opportunities to management.

Job description

The Senior Reporting Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the Management Reporting Manager in preparing Group reports required during each accounting period close and ensuring the integrity of accounting information across accounting systems while implementing sound control policies.

In all phases of the role, the Senior Reporting Specialist is responsible for conducting work in accordance with accounting standards, internal controls, reporting requirements, and established finance processes.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting and Period-End Close

• Assist in the preparation of internal reports during each period-end close.
• Reconcile accounting data from IFRS 4 Trial Balance to IFRS 17 Trial Balance.
• Liaise with Finance and other relevant teams to gather pertinent information relating to accounting standards applied during the reporting period.
• Perform checks and reconciliations on data transferred from SunGL to OneStream.
• Perform analytics on SAS and OneStream data, particularly on investment results and non-operating items within the Profit and Loss Statement.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Work closely with Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams to ensure the smooth and accurate closing of IFRS 17 reporting requirements.
• Perform cross-system checks for ETLs, SAS, SunGL, and OneStream for quarterly runs, and ETLs and SunGL for monthly runs.
• Investigate and resolve reporting and system issues to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.
• Communicate issues, findings, and improvement opportunities effectively to management and key stakeholders.

Controls, Compliance, and Process Improvement

• Perform SAS process checks in support of control initiatives.
• Ensure integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial and reporting data across systems.
• Drive continuous improvements in report preparation, reporting accuracy, system reliability, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of work performed, IFRS 17 processes, system configurations, and internal controls for audit and review purposes.

Other Responsibilities

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or Finance.
• CPA is preferred.
• Good understanding of GAAP.
• Preferably with at least two (2) years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Knowledge of insurance accounting is preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of accounting operations and book-closing procedures.
• Proficiency in SunGL, OneStream, or similar accounting and reporting systems is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
