Job summary

Morningstar is seeking an Analyst to join the Systematic Strategies team within the Research & Investment group. You will work on investment analytics, data analysis, and visualization of financial data to support portfolio management, risk reporting, and benchmark analytics.

You will collaborate with investment and technology teams to deliver scalable analytics, build dashboards in Power BI/Tableau/Qlik Sense, and automate reporting using Python, SQL, and PySpark.

Qualifications

  • Experience in investment analytics, BI or financial analytics.
  • Proficiency with multi-asset datasets and dashboard development.
  • Strong SQL/PySpark/Python skills and data modeling knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with investment and technology teams to deliver scalable analytics and data-driven insights.

The Area

The Investment Management group is a global team guided by Morningstar’s investment principles focused on delivering great long-term investment results to help end-investors reach their financial goals.We use ourexpertisein asset allocation, investmentselectionand portfolio construction to create world-class investment strategiesleveragingthe full resources of Morningstar. The group specializes in multi-asset investing, using building blocks in equities, fixedincomeand alternative investments to construct robust portfolios.Through our investment offerings, we serve financial advisers and institutions, and the investors that they serve.

Shift: UK Shift Role Summary

The Analyst will join the Systematic Strategies team in the Research & Investment group. This experienced professional will work on investment analytics, data analysis and visualization of financial data, supporting portfolio management, investment research, risk reporting, and benchmark/index analytics. It requires strong technical capability, familiarity with vendor-sourced multi-asset financial datasets, and the ability to collaborate effectively with investment and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will Partner effectively with investment and technology teams to deliver scalable analytics, reporting solutions, and data-driven insights that support investment decision-making
  • Develop and enhance analytical dashboards and reporting capabilities, including data visualization, performance monitoring, benchmark analytics, and investment reporting.
Requirements
  • Develop investment analytics, portfolio monitoring, performance measurement and risk reporting solutions
  • Build and maintain Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense dashboards
  • Build and manage scalable data and reporting solutions for multi-asset research team
  • Experience in handling large multi-asset financial datasets using PySpark and SQL
  • Proficiency with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly Automate reporting processes and integrate data from APIs and financial data providers
Required Technical Skills

  • Exposure to cloud-based services, AWS (preferred)
  • Exposure to AI-powered productivity & development tools such as Microsoft Copilot, and GitHub Copilot preferred
Financial & Domain Knowledge
  • Basic understanding of financial markets and investment concepts across equities, fixed income, currencies, and macroeconomics
  • Familiarity with financial datasets, including security prices, benchmark indexes, corporate fundamentals, and economic data
  • Familiarity with benchmark and index analytics, including performance, constituent composition, sector and country allocations, and index monitoring
  • Ability to apply domain knowledge to support reporting, dashboard development, and business intelligence initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in quantitative, financial, economic, or engineering discipline (MBA preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience in investment analytics, BI or financial analytics.
  • Progress towards CFA/FRM certifications preferred
