• Manage productivity, resource allocation, and work estimation for SDETs, ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Hire, retain, and develop QA talent and support career growth of test engineers.
• Define and execute QA strategy and roadmaps in partnership with product management and QA leadership.
• Champion automation and AI advancements to improve QA processes.
• Communicate risks, successes, and missteps to stakeholders and teams.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations and maintain thorough documentation.

Role Summary

Responsible for developing, applying, and maintaining quality standards for company products. Develops and executes software test plans. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Maintains documentation of test results. Analyzes test results and recommends corrective action. All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage teams of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) across multiple cross-functional teams and vertical domains.


• Drive quality excellence and best engineering practices, collaborating with QA engineers, software engineers, and engineering managers to build high-quality architectures and systems.


• Manage productivity, resource allocation, and work estimation for SDETs, ensuring the overall quality of engineering output.


• Hire, retain, and develop top QA talent, investing in the career development of software test engineers.


• Define and execute QA strategy and roadmaps in partnership with product management and the Head of QA.


• Champion change and continuous improvement in QA processes, leveraging automation and AI advancements.


• Communicate risks, successes, and missteps, representing the QA organization in the wider engineering and tech community.


• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, maintaining thorough documentation and reporting on team performance and testing processes.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products and services that meet client and end-user needs.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.


• Experience managing SDETs across one or more teams simultaneously.


• Experience developing testing architecture for large-scale, highly available cloud solutions.


• Experience with Agile processes and principles, working together with product teams.


• Experience with cloud-native architectures and practices, including high-availability, high-scalability, microservices, CI/CD, heavy testing automation, and observability.


• Hands-on experience with API testing and contract testing.


• Experience in software development with modern programming languages such as Ruby, Scala, Java, JavaScript, or Python.


• Experience leading test engineering teams in an agile environment with past coaching and mentoring experience.


• Technical proficiency and experience with web applications, web services, unit testing, and RDBMS technology.


• Experience with implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies such as GIT, Bitbucket, Jenkins, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD.


• Experience in delivering complex projects on time with good quality while managing risks and opportunities.


• Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., DevAxe, JAWS, NVDO, HTML CodeSniffer) and performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Load Runner, Gatling).


• Experience testing cloud-based applications hosted on Azure or AWS.


• Familiarity with SAAS applications (Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Appian).


• Experience managing QA Engineers across one or more teams simultaneously.


• Experience in the financials/payments industry.
