Job Summary

If you are a professional looking for an opportunity to work with the global Emerson Systems and Software organization, this is a stimulating opportunity for you! The Hardware Design Engineer is responsible for the technical execution of hardware design and the facilitation of agile practices within a cross-functional engineering team. This position ensures that product specifications are maintained throughout the lifecycle, while also supporting the team in delivering value efficiently.

In this role, your responsibilities will be:
  • Analyzing, qualifying, documenting, and testing design changes on released products to ensure ongoing compliance with product specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying and evaluating alternative components for cost reduction, end-of-life substitution, product quality improvement, and increased manufacturability.
  • Reviewing and verifying design and lifecycle component changes for impact on function, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Presenting design proposals and participate in design reviews with local and global teams, providing tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
  • Working with layout experts to create and test prototypes, performing electrical and functional tests as needed.
  • Collaborating with supply chain, manufacturing, vendors, and quality engineers to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Monitoring and understanding design change implications to agency certifications, and develop qualification test plans for approval of any alternate sources.
  • Supporting the team in executing lean-agile cadence practices, including sprint planning, reviews, refinement, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups, as needed.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, guiding discussions and facilitating collaboration.
  • Championing the use of hardware project metrics, drive corrective actions, and communicate progress to stakeholders.

For This Role You Will Need:
  • BS/MS in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or any other related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in hardware design and development.
  • Strong understanding of hardware design, component selection, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with electrical and functional testing of hardware prototypes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and certification requirements for hardware products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and global teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agile processes and Scrum Master responsibilities
  • Experience leading agile ceremonies and facilitating team collaboration.
  • Participation in or leadership on agile transformation initiatives.
