Job summary

ZEG India Pvt Ltd is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our expanding power systems analytics team. The role focuses on transmission and generation planning, power market dynamics, and North American stakeholder processes, supporting grid decarbonization initiatives.

You will perform advanced modeling (PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, TARA, DSA), develop deliverables, and engage with clients and internal teams. Strong communication and reporting skills in English are essential.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in electrical engineering (Ph.D. preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience in power grid analytics focused on North America.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in performing advanced power grids analytics using PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, TARA or DSA tools.
  • Proven track record of activities and contributions to relevant industry thought leadership forums.
  • In-depth understanding of electric power systems, inverter-based resources, FACTs, and their control philosophy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform generation and transmission modeling and analyses including advanced modeling of emerging technologies, load flow analysis, short circuit assessment, transient and sub-transient analysis and production cost modeling.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of North America regional transmission, generation, and large-load planning processes, applicable NERC planning standards, and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with team members, clients, and stakeholders, providing status updates and representing ZEG externally.
  • Prepare high-quality technical deliverables, including reports, white papers, and presentations.
  • Participate in industry forums and thought-leadership activities to stay current with trends.
  • Foster innovation and create automation scripts to improve grid-wide simulations.
  • Contribute to research initiatives and development of new analytical tools.

ZEG India continues to grow rapidly and is seeking a candidate to support our power systems analytics services as a Senior Power Systems Engineer. As a core member of the team, the ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, personable, and professionally driven, with a strong interest in contributing to ZEG’s mission of decarbonizing the power grid. The Senior Power Systems Engineer candidate is expected to bring subject-matter expertise in transmission and generation planning, along with a solid understanding of power market dynamics and North American stakeholder processes.

WhatYou’llDoas a Senior Power Systems Engineer at Zero-Emission Grid (ZEG)
  • Support the execution of our technical services including performing various advanced generation and transmission related modeling and analyses including advanced modeling of emerging technologies, load flow analysis, short circuit assessment, transient and sub-transient analysis and production cost modeling.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of North America regional transmission, generation, and large-load planning processes, applicable NERC planning standards, and relevant regional business manuals, handbooks, and procedures
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders, including providing status updates, responding to inquiries, and representing ZEG in external stakeholder meetings
  • Prepare high-quality technical deliverables, including technical reports, white papers, and presentations
  • Participate in industry forums and thought-leadership activities to stay current with emerging trends and best practices
  • Foster innovation and creative problem-solving to address industry challenges with effective and efficient solutions
  • Develop or modify automation scripts to improve the efficiency of grid-wide simulations
  • Contribute to the team’s research and innovation initiatives, including the development of new analytical tools and techniques
Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in electrical engineering (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience in power grid analytics, power markets, and grid code compliance within North America. Relevant post-graduate research and coursework may be considered toward this requirement.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in performing advanced power grids analytics using PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, TARA or DSA tools.
  • Proven track record of activities and contributions to relevant industry thought leadership forums.
  • In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of electric power systems, inverter-based resources, FACTs, and their control philosophy.
