Job summary

AECOM Philippines is seeking a Coastal Modeller to join our Water team. You will help deliver high-profile modelling studies for coastal and water projects, collaborating across disciplines and applying advanced numerical models.

You will contribute to data analysis, reporting, and client communications while supporting project delivery within budgets and schedules. A fixed night shift and hybrid onsite work schedule are required.

Qualifications

• Degree (or Masters) in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Marine Science, Oceanography or similar.
• Board Passer.
• Some experience working on Coastal, Ports or Water projects (through industry or academia).
• Experience or familiarity with MIKE by DHI and/or Delft3D; MATLAB/Python; CORMIX; EA/Defra guidance; Multivariate analysis; EurOtop; XBeach; Shingle-B.

Responsibilities

• Assist in undertaking modelling studies for projects from feasibility to detailed design.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver modelling studies.
• Contribute to development, setup and application of numerical models.
• Support senior team members in data analysis and reporting.
• Ensure tasks are delivered to budgets, programmes and quality standards.
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
• Liaise with internal teams and support communication with clients and stakeholders.

Job Description

Our Water team is on the lookout for a passionate Coastal Modeller to join our dynamic and rapidly growing Water Business Line. This is your chance to help deliver high profile, influential projects across the UK and even further afield while working at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious and connected northern engineering hubs.

• Assist in undertaking modelling studies for a range of projects, from feasibility/option appraisal through to detailed design.
• Work collaboratively with other disciplines to support the delivery of modelling studies.
• Contribute to the development, setup and application of numerical models.
• Support senior team members in project delivery, including data analysis and reporting.
• Assist in ensuring tasks are delivered to agreed budgets, programmes and quality standards.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and project documentation.
• Liaise with internal teams and, where appropriate, support communication with clients and stakeholders.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• Degree (or Masters) in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Marine Science, Oceanography or similar.
• Board Passer.
• Some experience working on Coastal, Ports or Water projects (through industry or academia), with developing technical capability.
• Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following:
  • Model development and application using MIKE by DHI and/or Delft3D software.
  • Metocean data analysis using MATLAB / Python.
  • Near-field mixing studies using CORMIX.
  • Joint probability methods (using EA/Defra guidance).
  • Multivariate analysis.
  • Overtopping assessments (using the EurOtop Manual).
  • Beach design (using XBeach, Shingle-B).
• Must be amenable to work fixed night shift schedule and hybrid set-up of 3 days onsite per week.
• You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
