About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Australian Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role combines advanced hands‑on bookkeeping with leadership responsibilities. You will manage a portfolio of Australian clients while guiding and supporting a team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial services.
This is an ideal role for a senior‑level PH bookkeeper ready to take the next step into a leadership position, while still staying close to work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage bookkeeping services for multiple Australian clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee daily transactional processing including AP, AR, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing, including STP, PAYG, superannuation, and awards interpretation.
- Prepare, review, and lodge BAS and IAS in line with ATO requirements.
- Maintain accurate financial records using Xero and/or MYOB.
- Prepare and review financial and management for clients.
- Act as a primary contact for client queries, updates, and escalations.
- Review work prepared by junior bookkeepers before submission to clients or accountants.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to the bookkeeping team.
- Lead onboarding and system setup for new clients.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client experience.
- Record daily timesheets accurately in XPM for productivity and billing tracking.
- Support workflow coordination and documentation to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Perform ad hoc Bookkeeping and administrative tasks when needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5+ years bookkeeping experience with Australian clients (required)
- Advanced skills in Xero, MYOB, and XPM
- Strong knowledge of GST, BAS, payroll, and other ATO compliance requirements
- Experience supervising bookkeepers or leading a small team
- Confident communication skills for handling clients directly
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and time management
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Experience with tools like A2X, Dext, Hubdoc, Deputy, or Employment Hero is an advantage
