5 ELK is seeking a Senior AU Accountant in the Philippines to support an Australian accounting firm with day-to-day bookkeeping, financial processing, and compliance. You’ll apply Australian standards and work with XERO to ensure accurate data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
• At least 3 years’ experience assisting Australian accounting firms or AU accounts.
• Advanced knowledge of Australian accounting processes, standards, and terminology.
• Experience with Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including coding, reconciliations and data entry.
• Prepare draft Australian tax returns for review.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Work extensively in Xero to manage bookkeeping tasks.
• Assist with account reconciliations and financial data reviews.
• Support compliance and BAS/tax preparation processes.
• Maintain organized financial records and working papers.
• Assist audits with schedules and documentation.
• Ensure work is completed accurately within deadlines.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to keep client files up to date.

At 5 ELK, we build malupet offshore teams that support Australian, UK and New Zealand advisers. Our people are the heroes behind the scenes, providing admin, reporting, and client support that keeps advice businesses running smoothly.

The Role

As a Senior AU Accountant, you’ll support an Australian accounting firm by assisting with day to day accounting tasks, financial processing, and compliance requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who already has an experience in Australian accounting processes and terminology, enjoys working with numbers, and wants to grow their experience supporting AU clients and has worked on tasks within XERO (CRM).

You’ll work closely with senior accountants and finance leaders to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, deadlines are met, and Australian accounting standards are followed.

We have (3) three office locations: Cebu City, Dumaguete & Pampanga (San Fernando)

*Office-based | Schedule: Dayshift 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday - Friday (Saturday & Sunday Day Off)

What You’ll Do

• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including coding, reconciliations, and data entry
• Prepare draft Australian tax returns for review by the onshore team
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Work extensively in Xero to manage bookkeeping and accounting tasks
• Assist with account reconciliations and financial data reviews
• Support compliance and tax preparation processes

• Support audits and reviews by preparing schedules and documentation
• Help ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
• Collaborate with the wider accounting team to keep client files organised and up to date

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business course
• At least 3 years PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE assisting Australian accounting firms or supporting AU accounts REQUIRED
• Advance knowledge of Australian accounting processes, standards, and terminology (e.g. BAS, GST, general ledger, reconciliations)
• Experience using accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Good written and spoken English communication skills
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
