Senior Art Director in an advertising agency leads the visual and creative side of campaigns. They conceptualize compelling visual strategies, ensure creative quality, manage a team of designers and artists, and collaborate with copywriters, account teams, and clients to deliver high-impact work across multiple media channels.
Responsibilities
- Creative Concept & Ideation
- Develop and pitch big ideas/creative concepts for campaigns (digital, print, outdoor, broadcast, social, etc.).
- Collaborate with copywriters, strategists, planners, and account managers to translate briefs into visual narratives.
- Design & Execution Oversight
- Oversee production of design deliverables: layouts, illustrations, multimedia, motion graphics, video content, and photo direction.
- Ensure all visual assets align with brand identity, quality standards, and client objectives.
- Supervise photo/video shoots: from pre-production (briefing, scouting, storyboarding) to post-production.
- Team Leadership and Mentoring
- Lead/manage designers, junior art directors, external vendors/freelancers.
- Provide feedback, mentorship, and guidance to help elevate their craft.
- Assign tasks, balance workload, and ensure deliverables meet deadlines.
- Client & Stakeholder Interaction
- Present concepts and final designs to clients and/or internal stakeholders; explain design rationale.
- Take feedback from clients/stakeholders and revise work while maintaining creative integrity.
- Strategic & Brand Stewardship
- Stay updated with visual, cultural, digital, and advertising trends; use insights to refresh creative approaches.
- Maintain consistency in the brand’s visual identity across platforms and touch points.
- Project Management & Workflow
- Set and manage timelines, tasks, and budgets; ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with production, digital, media, and account teams to ensure seamless workflow.
