SUMO Services Corporation is seeking a Senior Accountant to support high‑quality taxation and compliance services for Australian clients. The role focuses on technical accounting, taxation and compliance with no client management duties, and involves collaboration with an offshore/remote team based in the Philippines.
You will prepare financial statements and tax returns, assist with tax planning, and ensure adherence to firm standards.
As a Senior Accountant, you will support the delivery of high-quality taxation and compliance services to Australian clients. Working closely with the BLG team, you will prepare financial and tax compliance work and assist with the efficient completion of client engagements. This role is primarily focused on technical accounting, taxation and compliance tasks and does not involve direct client management responsibilities.
Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and business activity statements for review by senior team members.
Prepare workpapers and supporting documentation in accordance with firm standards and procedures.
Assist with the preparation of tax planning calculations and projections.
Complete data entry, reconciliations and compliance-related schedules accurately and efficiently.
Liaise with Australian team members regarding workflow, job progress and technical queries.
Identify and elevate issues, discrepancies or missing information for review.
Use accounting, taxation and practice management software effectively and accurately.
Meet internal deadlines and productivity targets while maintaining a high standard of work quality.
Comply with company policies, confidentiality requirements, professional standards and workplace obligations.
Undertake other duties reasonably related to the role as required.
Minimum three years’ experience in public practice accounting, business services or taxation
Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns
Strong understanding of accounting principles and Australian tax concepts.
Experience working with Australian accounting firms
Experience working in an offshore or remote team environment
Experience usingClass Super, Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or similar cloud-based accounting systems.
Strong accounting and taxation knowledge.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective organisational and time management skills.
The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team.
