Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking an SAP MDG Technical Architect for a remote role based in Spain. You will design, architect and deliver MDG solutions for material master data, aligning functional requirements with scalable technical implementations.

Responsibilities include end-to-end MDG delivery, data model extensions, BRF+ rules, and integrations via BTP, APIs and IDocs. You will ensure governance, security and data quality across cloud and hybrid environments.

• Proven experience in SAP MDG technical architecture and system design, focusing on material master data.
• Hands-on expertise in SAP MDG configuration, data modeling and workflow development.

Responsibilities

• Translate functional specifications into robust MDG technical designs for material master data.
• Lead end-to-end MDG technical delivery, including configuration, workflow design, BRF+ rules, and custom extensions.
• Define and implement data model extensions, change request (DCR) processes and governance rules.
• Architect and build integrations between SAP MDG and SAP/non-SAP systems using BTP, middleware and APIs.
• Ensure solution stability, scalability and Clean Core compliance, minimizing unnecessary customizations.
• Collaborate with functional SMEs to align functional intent with technical feasibility.
• Participate in design authority forums, providing technical leadership on integration and governance decisions.
• Implement data quality frameworks and analytics tools, leveraging automation and AI-based validation techniques.
• Monitor security and compliance for data governance in cloud and hybrid environments.
• Support testing phases, troubleshoot defects, and deliver user training to ensure adoption and operational readiness.

We're looking for an SAP MDG Technical Architect to join our team in Spain in a remote working mode. In this role, you will design, architect and deliver SAP MDG technical solutions focused on Material Master Data, ensuring alignment between functional requirements and scalable technical implementations. You will lead configuration, extension, integration, change processes and governance to achieve high-quality, reliable and compliant master data management solutions.

This position offers the opportunity to bridge functional design with technical realization, implement advanced governance and data quality standards, and collaborate in global transformation programs leveraging SAP BTP, cloud and AI-driven analytics.

Requirements

• Proven experience in SAP MDG technical architecture and system design, focusing on material master data
• Hands-on expertise in SAP MDG configuration, data modeling and workflow development
• Strong knowledge of BRF+ rules, ABAP enhancements and custom development in MDG context
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA integration (on-premise, cloud or hybrid environments
• Familiarity with SAP BTP for integration and analytics solutions
• Knowledge of integration frameworks including SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI, APIs, IDocs and web services
• Experience implementing data migration, harmonization and governance processes
• Understanding of security, compliance and regulatory controls for master data in cloud-based environments
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to influence technical decisions

Nice to have

• Exposure to AI-driven data quality solutions and predictive analytics tools
• Familiarity with Change Request process optimization and automation
• Experience in business process mapping and optimization in material master data governance
• Certifications in SAP MDG, SAP BTP or relevant architecture frameworks (TOGAF)
