Overview
A Sales Clerk is responsible for assisting customers in a retail setting, ensuring they have an enjoyable shopping experience. The primary duties include helping customers find products, processing transactions, maintaining the store’s cleanliness, and ensuring shelves are well-stocked. Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Help customers locate products and answer product-related inquiries.
- Process sales transactions accurately using cash registers or point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Maintain store appearance by organizing merchandise, restocking shelves, and ensuring displays are tidy.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds according to store policies.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or issues to management.
- Assist in opening and closing the store, including cash handling and security procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
- Promote sales and special offers to encourage customer purchases.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet store goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate cash registers and handle monetary transactions.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks like lifting and stocking items.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic math skills for processing transactions and managing stock levels.
