Job Description
The Sales Assistant provides exceptional customer service, supports sales activities, and helps maintain the store's visual and operational standards. This role involves interacting with customers, understanding their needs, and assisting them in finding the right products while contributing to overall store performance.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Greet customers, answer inquiries, and assist them in locating and selecting products.
- Sales Support: Actively engage with customers to understand their needs and provide recommendations to drive sales.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of product offerings, features, and benefits to effectively communicate with customers.
- Merchandising: Ensure shelves are stocked, organized, and visually appealing. Help with setting up promotional displays.
- Point of Sale (POS): Operate the cash register, handle payments, issue receipts, and manage returns or exchanges.
- Stock Management: Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing inventory in storage and on the sales floor.
- Problem Resolution: Address customer complaints or concerns and escalate issues to the store manager when necessary.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to achieve sales targets and ensure smooth store operations.
- Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and tidy store environment, including fitting rooms and checkout areas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service focus with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
- Proficiency in using POS systems (training provided, if necessary).
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical tasks like lifting merchandise.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior retail or sales experience is an advantage but not required.
- Typically works in a retail store environment.
- Requires standing for long hours and interacting with customers throughout the day.
