F5 Global Talent is hiring an experienced Residential Drafter with hands-on experience producing construction drawings for U.S. wood-framed homes. You’ll turn sketches and markups into AutoCAD drawing sets—floor plans, elevations, foundations, and framing plans. Full-time, remote role with overlapping hours for the internal team.

Hands-on experience drafting U.S. wood-framed residential buildings is required. If your background is steel or concrete CAD work, this role is not a fit.

Job description

F5 Global Talent is hiring an experienced Residential Drafter with hands-on experience producing construction drawings for U.S. wood-framed homes.

You'll turn sketches, redlines, markups, and written instructions into accurate AutoCAD drawing sets - including floor plans, exterior elevations, foundation plans, and floor, wall, and roof framing plans.

This is a technical drafting role, not conceptual design or 3D visualization. The most important requirement is a real understanding of conventional U.S. wood-frame construction and how framing, foundations, openings, and roof systems fit together.

This is a full-time, remote role open to candidates in India and the Philippines, with agreed working-hour overlap with the internal team.

IMPORTANT: Hands-on experience drafting U.S. wood-framed residential buildings is required. If your background is primarily steel, reinforced concrete, civil drafting, rendering, or general CAD work without residential wood framing, this role is not a fit.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Prepare floor, wall, and roof framing plans for U.S. wood-framed residential buildings
• Prepare and coordinate foundation plans
• Draft architectural floor plans and exterior elevations
• Convert hand sketches, redlines, markups, and written instructions into accurate CAD drawings
• Produce construction-documentation sets for single-family and multifamily residential projects
• Coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP information across drawing sets
• Follow established drafting standards, templates, and layer structures
• Maintain dimensional accuracy and perform quality checks before drawings are issued
• Manage revisions accurately and efficiently
• Communicate questions and progress clearly with the internal team

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Hands-on drafting experience on U.S. wood-framed residential projects
• Strong understanding of conventional U.S. wood-frame construction
• Experience preparing floor, wall, and roof framing plans
• Foundation-plan drafting and coordination experience
• Experience producing architectural floor plans and exterior elevations
• Strong AutoCAD or equivalent professional CAD skills
• Ability to convert sketches, redlines, and markups into accurate construction drawings
• Experience with single-family and/or multifamily residential construction documents
• Understanding of lumber, framing members, openings, foundations, and roof systems
• Strong dimensional accuracy, drawing coordination, and quality-control skills
• Ability to follow established CAD standards, templates, and layer structures
• Strong written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently and manage revisions efficiently

NICE TO HAVE

• New York, New Jersey, or other U.S. residential-project experience
• Experience with U.S. permit drawing sets and building-code documentation
• Experience coordinating architectural drawings with structural and MEP information
• Familiarity with U.S. lumber sizes, framing specifications, and regional materials
• Experience maintaining CAD templates and standardized drafting workflows
• Portfolio showing residential wood-framing and construction-documentation work

HIRING PROCESS

Shortlisted candidates will complete a practical AutoCAD drafting assessment of approximately 2-3 hours.
