FERNA CORPORATION in Navotas, Philippines, seeks a seasoned professional to lead Product Research and Development initiatives. The role involves analyzing company objectives, planning OGSM for the PRD department, and driving new product concepts to meet customer specifications.
The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of experience as a Research and Development Leader or Food Scientist in the food industry, with a BS in Food Technology and preferably an MBA.
Analyzes Company’s directions, growth strategies and business objectives in order to handle the current/future product requirements of its customers and market.
Formulates, plans, monitors and evaluates the established Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM) of the PRD Department (including individual positions) aligned with the overall OGSM of the Company while ensuring effective implementation of best practices in product research and development, increasing cost-effectiveness and quality of new/enhanced/alternative products.
Contributes to new business initiatives, products and projects through continuous studies, research and development activities while ensuring competitive price, profitability and increase in market shares.
Conceptualizes, evaluates and approves Product Research and Development (PRD) project concept and study requests for general promotions, custom-blends and cost-effective alternative/substitute products in order to meet customers’ specifications and requirements as well as business needs.
Leads product matching based on the required parameters and assessment of a given reference sample.
Oversears the planning, cascading, resource preparation, standardization, documentation, analysis and evaluation of new/enhanced or alternative products in a production scale set-up.
Evaluates and approves the manufacturing process validation protocol.
Works with the production, Quality Assurance and Control, Warehouse, Sales and Engineering and Maintenance Department for scheduling and execution of actual process validation and production scale trial. This is considered as the final step before full-scale commercial run.
Evaluates and approves relevant resources needed such as but not limited to raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, equipment and among others.
Evaluates and approves the overall PRD Project Plans.
Conducts PRD Project briefing and rollout.
Approves and signs the final PRD Project Reports.
Recommends the commercial run or mass production of new/enhanced/alternative products.
Evaluates and approves products that conform to required attributes and established parameters and specifications.
Oversees the planning, implementation, standardization, analysis and evaluation of product application activities.
Evaluates and approves Product Application Report as well as endorsement to PRD Supervisor for the conduct of the conduct of Sensory Evaluation activities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of BS Food Technology or any related course preferably with Master’s Degree in Business Administration
At least five to ten (5-10) years of extensive work experience as Research and Development Leader or Food Scientist in a food manufacturing or trading/retail industry
