Responsibilities

• Adjudicate and render expert judgment on contested physics arguments and interpretations within your subfield.
• Compare alternative approaches, detailing which is superior under which assumptions and regimes.
• Identify meta-level criteria for evaluating robustness and validity of competing work.
• Provide calibrated, authoritative assessments while transparently acknowledging uncertainty.
• Draft defensible written evaluations suitable for review by senior physicists.
