Job summary

MicroSourcing is hiring a Junior Medical Coder to work from home on the night shift. You will review coding guidelines for Medicare and Medicaid, and enter content into Lyric software with precision while aligning with claim outcome processes.

Ideal candidates have a health information background and knowledge of US payer billing policies, with room for growth in a collaborative, inclusive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or closely related healthcare field.
• Credentials: AAPC CPC, AHIMA CCS-P or AHIMA CCS (Apprentice status acceptable).
• Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare or insurance payer environments (claims processing, chart auditing, billing, or editing).
• Solid understanding of US health insurance frameworks (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Experience with pre-payment claims editing and reimbursement policies.

Responsibilities

• Review Medicare, Medicaid, and other coding guidance to identify updates.
• Enter researched content into Lyric software accurately.
• Compare coding authority docs against software logic to identify outdated codes.
• Share data with internal teams and escalate complex questions.
• Validate and organize source documentation for claims editing packages.
• Stay updated on national code sets and reimbursement policies.
