Responsibilities

Release Management Coordinator

The Release Management Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating software release activities across multiple product and technology teams. This role focuses on maintaining release schedules, tracking delivery progress, identifying risks and delays, facilitating communication across stakeholders, and helping ensure releases remain on track.

The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who can work independently, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive solutions with minimal oversight. Success in this role requires strong release coordination skills combined with a process improvement mindset. The right candidate will proactively evaluate manual or repetitive tasks, leverage AI and automation tools where appropriate, and develop recommendations that improve efficiency, reporting, and overall release management operations.

This role will support ongoing enhancements to release management processes and reporting capabilities while providing operational support across multiple Agile teams. The individual must be comfortable working with minimal direction, taking ownership of assigned responsibilities, and returning with actionable plans and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and track software releases across multiple product and technology teams.
• Maintain release schedules, timelines, milestones, and status reporting.
• Monitor delivery activities and release progress within Azure DevOps and associated reporting tools.
• Follow up with Product Owners, Development teams, and QA teams regarding deliverables, dependencies, risks, and release readiness.
• Attend daily Agile standups and document key updates, risks, blockers, delays, and delivery concerns.
• Escalate issues appropriately while helping teams resolve challenges and maintain momentum.
• Facilitate release review meetings, status meetings, and cross-functional coordination sessions.
• Provide leadership with accurate reporting on release health, timeline risks, and delivery status.
• Maintain release documentation, communication plans, distribution lists, and related administrative processes.
• Support audit, data validation, and reporting activities.
• Identify manual, repetitive, or operational tasks and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to improve reporting, data analysis, planning, tracking, and operational workflows.
• Assist with ongoing redesign and optimization of release management processes and governance practices.
• Independently assess challenges, develop recommendations, and present actionable plans for improvement.
• Help drive adoption of updated release management processes and best practices.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Serve as a key coordination point across Product, Development, QA, and Business stakeholders.
• Build strong working relationships across teams and effectively influence outcomes without direct authority.
• Facilitate release status meetings and communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and action items.
• Ensure stakeholders remain informed regarding release schedules, milestones, and delivery timelines.
• Drive accountability through proactive follow-up and effective communication.
• Communicate professionally and confidently with both technical and business audiences.

Release Planning & Risk Management

• Track release milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and readiness activities.
• Identify, document, and communicate risks, blockers, delays, and missed commitments.
• Escalate issues appropriately while partnering with teams to drive resolution.
• Monitor delivery progress and provide recommendations when release timelines are at risk.
• Maintain reporting and documentation that supports release planning and execution.
• Analyze delivery trends and identify opportunities to improve release predictability and visibility.

Process Improvement & AI Enablement

• Identify opportunities to improve release management processes, reporting, and operational workflows.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools to analyze delivery data, summarize findings, generate recommendations, and improve efficiency.
• Develop creative solutions for managing manual and administrative activities at scale.
• Support implementation of new release management processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrate the ability to independently assess a problem, develop a solution, and present a practical execution plan.
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of release management workflows and best practices across the organization.

Required Experience

• 2+ years of experience in Release Management, Release Coordination, Project Coordination, PMO Support, Agile Coordination, Delivery Coordination, or related technology delivery roles.
• Experience supporting software development or technology delivery teams.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) concepts.
• Experience facilitating meetings and coordinating activities across multiple teams.
• Ability to influence and drive action without direct managerial authority.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience tracking work within Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar delivery management platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes and drive operational efficiencies.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar technologies to support planning, analysis, reporting, or workflow optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Release Management, Release Coordination, or Release Analyst roles.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps release and work management processes.
• Exposure to Agile, Scrum, or SAFe delivery frameworks.
• Experience coordinating activities across Product, Development, QA, and Business teams.
• Experience creating release reporting, executive status updates, dashboards, and communications.
• Experience supporting process improvement or transformation initiatives within software delivery organizations.
• Experience implementing workflow automation, reporting enhancements, or operational improvements.
