Job Description

The Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and supporting the overall healthcare team. The nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient health conditions through physical exams, interviews, and patient histories.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs, symptoms, and reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Provide direct patient care including wound care, catheter insertion, IV therapy, and more.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility).
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential patient records.
  • Record patient progress and communicate any changes in condition to the healthcare team.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with hospital or facility protocols.
  • Prepare reports on patient conditions, treatments, and recovery plans.
Collaboration and Teamwork
  • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding health conditions, medications, and recovery plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment adjustments.
  • Advocate for patients’ needs and ensure their comfort and safety during treatment.
  • Address patient concerns and provide emotional support to patients and families.
  • Ensure that patients are informed about their rights and choices in their care.
Health Education
  • Educate patients and families about disease prevention, health promotion, and post-treatment care.
  • Provide instructions on medication usage, self-care techniques, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Assist with discharge planning and provide resources for further care if necessary.
Compliance and Safety
  • Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards (e.g., infection control, patient privacy).
  • Ensure safe handling and disposal of medical equipment, sharps, and waste.
  • Monitor patient environments to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Emergency Care
  • Respond to medical emergencies, administer first aid, CPR, or other emergency care as necessary.
  • Stabilize patients in critical conditions and prepare them for transfer to appropriate departments or facilities.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with valid licensure in the state or region.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
