Job summary

WHO Philippines in Manila is seeking a Communications Support Officer to design and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for the country office and to strengthen media relations and public engagement.

Qualifications

• Essential: university degree in communication, journalism, marketing, public health, political science, international relations, or similar field.
• Desirable: advanced degree or formal qualification in communication, public health or related area; courses in strategic communication, design, audiovisual production and/or social media.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support the implementation of communication strategies to raise awareness of health issues and actions.
• Support implementation of the WHO corporate communication strategy to improve visibility of programmes.
• Identify marketable subjects and develop communications and advocacy products.
• Coordinate outreach to target audiences via WHO website, traditional and social media.
• Organize events, campaigns and media briefings with journalists and experts.
• Build networks with media and national communication counterparts.
• Support content development for country office and stakeholder linkages.
• Monitor media and social media, identify reputational risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with government and partners to plan campaigns and represent WHO in communications groups.
• Support emergency risk communications and internal/external communications within cultural contexts.
• Coordinate training in communication and media for country office staff.
