Job summary

SMEC invites applications for an Electrical Engineer to supervise electrical construction on major infrastructure projects in the Philippines. You will inspect installations, witness testing and commissioning, review ITPs, and ensure conformity with PEC/IEC/IEEE standards.

The role requires a licensed electrical engineer with 5+ years of experience in large-scale projects, familiarity with electrical safety programs, and ability to coordinate with multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer (Registered Electrical Engineer) in the Philippines is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical construction supervision, inspection, or quality control.
  • Experience in hydropower, pumped storage, power generation, substations, transmission facilities, or other large infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing and commissioning procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspection of electrical installation works to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Monitor installation of electrical equipment including power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, control panels, cables, grounding systems, lighting systems, and auxiliary electrical facilities.
  • Verify that materials and equipment delivered to site conform to approved technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Witness installation, testing, and commissioning activities of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure electrical works are executed according to approved method statements and construction procedures.
  • Review inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality control records, and test reports submitted by contractors.
  • Identify non-conforming works and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable PEC, IEC standards, project specs, and client requirements.
  • Verify completion of punch list items and corrective actions before acceptance.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with electrical safety requirements and site safety regulations.
  • Identify unsafe electrical practices and report potential hazards.
  • Support implementation of LOTO procedures and electrical safety programs.
  • Participate in safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, observations, test results, and site activities.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports.
  • Review contractor progress reports and verify completed quantities of electrical works.
  • Assist in preparation of project completion and handover documentation.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and commissioning teams for proper interface.
  • Attend site meetings and provide updates on electrical construction progress and issues.
  • Support the Resident Engineer in resolving technical and construction-related issues.

About the Role
