Job Description
An ICT and ELV (Information and Communication Technology / Extra-Low Voltage) Project Engineer designs, installs, and maintains smart building systems, data networks, and security infrastructure. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, plus 3 to 5+ years of experience in low-current building systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. High-Level Key Responsibilities
- System Design: Create layout plans, schematics, and calculations for structured cabling, fiber optics, LAN/WAN, and wireless networks.
- ELV Integration: Design and manage security and safety setups including IP CCTV, access control, public address (PA) systems, and fire alarms.
- Project Execution: Oversee on-site installation, system testing, and commissioning to meet project schedules.
- Coordination: Work with architects, contractors, and other MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) teams using tools like AutoCAD or Revit.
- Compliance: Ensure all work follows standard building codes and global guidelines like TIA/EIA, BICSI, and IEC.
2. ICT Infrastructure & Networking
- Network Design: Architect robust LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi solutions, specifying switches, routers, and access points.
- Structured Cabling: Design copper (Cat6/6A) and fiber optic backbones for commercial projects.
- Server Room Management: Plan data center layouts, including rack space, patch panels, UPS systems, and cooling requirements.
3. ELV & Security Systems Integration
- Security & Surveillance: Design and deploy IP CCTV cameras, Network Video Recorders (NVRs), and electronic access control.
- Communication Systems: Implement Public Address/Voice Alarm (PAVA), Intercom, and Audio-Visual (AV) systems.
- Building Automation: Integrate ELV systems with Building Management Systems (BMS) for centralized control (With Experience would be added advantage).
- Technical Drawing: Create detailed schematic diagrams, cable schedules, and containment layouts using AutoCAD.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate sub-contractor bids, review technical submittals, and select hardware vendors.
- Testing & Commissioning: Oversee end-to-end testing, cable certification, and system handovers to clients.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ECE, EE, IT, or Computer Science).
- Experience: 3–7 years working on commercial, industrial, or smart-city infrastructure.
- Technical Skills: Hands‑on knowledge of network hardware, CCTV, BMS (Building Management Systems), and software like AutoCAD/BIM.
Certifications: Preferred credentials include Cisco (CCNA).
