The Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe and effective pharmaceutical care to patients. This includes dispensing medications, providing drug information and counseling, and monitoring patient medication therapy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

Medication Dispensing.

• Accurately dispense medications to patients, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and other pharmaceutical products.
• Verify prescription accuracy and ensure proper labeling and packaging.
• Maintain accurate patient medication records.

Patient Counseling.

• Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, including information on drug indications, dosage, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
• Answer patient questions and address any concerns regarding their medications.
• Educate patients on proper medication use and adherence.

Drug Information and Education.

• Provide drug information to healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists.
• Conduct medication therapy reviews and identify potential drug-related problems.
• Participate in continuing education programs to maintain professional knowledge and skills.

Quality Assurance.

• Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and safety of medication dispensing and patient care.
• Monitor and evaluate medication therapy outcomes.
• Identify and report medication errors and adverse drug reactions.

Inventory Management.

• Maintain adequate inventory levels of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies.
• Order and receive medications and supplies.
• Assist with inventory control and reconciliation.

Other Duties.

• Participate in community outreach programs and health fairs.
• Assist with the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.

Licensure/Certification.

• Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state/jurisdiction of employment.
• Current registration and licensure with all applicable regulatory boards.

Experience.

• 1-3 years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail, hospital, or other healthcare setting.
