UnitedHealth Group’s Optum unit seeks an Appeals Coder/CV Nurse to review patient records and prepare strong, defensible appeal letters following established guidelines. This role combines clinical expertise with precise documentation to support optimal health outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a nursing degree with an active PHRN license and coding experience, is comfortable working onsite in Metro Manila, and can meet speed and accuracy targets while upholding Optum and OPAS policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, PHRN license and active certification.
• 3+ years of bedside/critical care nursing in tertiary/secondary hospitals (ICU/CCU/ER).
• 1+ year of coding experience and willingness to report onsite.

Responsibilities

• Review patient medical records and extract pertinent details.
• Craft strongly defensible appeal letters per process instructions.
• Complete cases within the specified time with high-quality reviews.

The Appeals Coder/CV Nurse will accurately and efficiently review and extract pertinent case details from patient medical records; and craft strongly defensible appeal letters per process instructions and the department's/company's guidance. The Appeals Coder/CV Nurse will complete their case within the time expectations while providing high quality reviews. The Appeals nurse will perform their job functions, adhering to both Optum and OPAS policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibility:

• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing + PHRN Active License + Active Certification
• 3+ years of clinical experience - bed side, critical care in Tertiary/Secondary Hospital (ICU, CCU, Telemetry, Cardiovascular ICU, Medical ICU, ER, MS)
• 1+ years of coding experience
• Willing to report onsite
