Job Description
Pattern Maker is responsible for creating precise patterns used in the production of garments. They transform design concepts into accurate templates that guide the cutting and construction of clothing pieces. Pattern makers ensure that garments fit properly, meet design specifications, and can be efficiently produced.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop patterns based on designers’ sketches, measurements, and specifications.
- Create, modify, and finalize garment patterns for production.
- Ensure patterns are accurate in terms of sizing, fit, and proportions.
- Work closely with designers, sample makers, and production teams to refine designs.
- Adjust patterns after fittings and incorporate necessary corrections.
- Produce graded patterns for different sizes.
- Maintain pattern records and documentation for manufacturing.
- Ensure patterns allow efficient fabric usage and cost-effective production.
Qualifications
- Experience in pattern making for garments or apparel manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and fabric behavior.
- Ability to interpret design sketches and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in manual pattern drafting or pattern‑making software (if applicable).
- Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
