Job summary

Amentum seeks an Appliance Mechanic to support a US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. You will install, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial food service equipment and related systems to ensure constant operational readiness.

Applicants must have plumbing, electrical, refrigeration and HVAC experience, EPA and appliance repair certifications, a passport, and the ability to obtain visas. This overseas deployment requires safety compliance and international travel.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two (2) years of related work may substitute for each year of college.
Minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory or lead maintenance role preferred.
Experience repairing and maintaining commercial food service equipment, refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
EPA Refrigerant Certification required.
Commercial Appliance Repair Certification required.
Must have a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
Passport valid for at least one year at hire; visa eligibility required.
Ability to pass contract medical requirements and deployment safety.
English reading, speaking and comprehension required to meet contract needs.

Responsibilities

Supervise maintenance operations for assigned equipment per contract, policies, and regulations.
Provide leadership to maintenance personnel, including scheduling and coaching.
Set maintenance priorities, schedule repairs, and estimate downtime.
Coordinate repairs when parts are pending to reduce downtime and costs.
Perform advanced installation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on food service equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot and repair commercial cooking equipment and utilities.
Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for equipment life and performance.
Manage inventory levels of parts, tools and supplies; forecast future needs.
Oversee contractor work to ensure quality and safety compliance.
Provide technical support and track equipment performance and cost avoidance initiatives.
Prepare maintenance and activity reports accurately and on time.
Maintain communication with management, customers, contractors and staff about status.
Coordinate collection of operation and maintenance reports.
Promote workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Conduct site visits to build relationships with teams and customers.
Monitor employee development and performance evaluations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
