About the role

A Pediatric Occupational Therapist provides assessment and therapeutic intervention to children with developmental, physical, sensory, behavioral, and functional challenges. The therapist helps children develop the skills needed to participate more independently in daily activities at home, school, and in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify children's strengths, needs, and functional limitations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and the child's developmental goals.
• Provide therapeutic activities to improve fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, balance, and functional abilities.
• Address difficulties with activities of daily living such as dressing, feeding, grooming, handwriting, and play.
• Provide sensory integration and regulation strategies when clinically appropriate.
• Support children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, ADHD, learning difficulties, and other conditions affecting participation and function.
• Monitor and document each child's progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
• Educate parents, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals regarding therapeutic strategies and home programs.
• Collaborate with physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, teachers, psychologists, and other members of the child's care team.
• Recommend appropriate adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and assistive strategies when necessary.
