Job summary

Havaianas is seeking a Merchandise Planner to develop, execute, and communicate merchandise financial plans that support merchandising and financial objectives for one or more departments. The planner drives financial results to maximize sales, inventory, and bottom-line profitability.

Qualifications

  • Education & experience: a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 2–3 years in planning/inventory analysis and 1–3 years in retail buying or related analytics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Strong understanding of financial measurements (sales, gross margin, inventory productivity).
  • Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills; ability to present strategies and negotiate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to build productive relationships and adapt to changing priorities to meet deadlines.

Job Summary

The Merchandise Planner develops, executes, and communicates merchandise financial plans and strategies that support the merchandising and financial objectives of one or more departments offline or online. The Planner drives financial results that maximize sales, inventory and bottom line profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial success of one or more divisions/departments by meeting sales, gross margin and inventory productivity goals: pre-season and in-season management

  • Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by division/department and class.

  • Collaborate with merchandising to develop and communicate a comprehensive strategy that aligns future financial and product opportunities by division/department and class.

  • Create pre-season sales, gross margin and inventory plans by division/department and class that support product strategies.

  • Reconcile top-down to bottom-up class plans.

  • Recap and analyze actual sales results to plan, and forecast in-season sales and inventory on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.

  • Identify risks and opportunities to business and recommend strategies to achieve financial goals.

  • Collaborates with Merchandising and Corplan on OTB forecasts. Present financial forecast and supporting action plans in open to buy/monthly forecast meetings.

  • Re-forecast sales and manage inventory for all basic styles to meet division/department financial goals.

  • Together with Merchandising, communicate division level markdown recommendations and strategies.

  • Participate in company and brand initiatives as appropriate.

  • Communicate financial results, forecasts, and action plans to manager and cross-functional team on a weekly basis.

  • Present financial plans, forecasts and strategies in key meetings.

  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to ensure consistency of information, share best-practices and develop systems knowledge.

  • Communicate financial results, forecasts, and action plans to manager and cross-functional team on a weekly basis.

  • Support a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented environment with peers and cross-functional team.

  • Provide manager with timely feedback on personal developmental and training needs.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of cross-brand and cross-functional team (merchandising, corplan, production, DA, sales & operations, BUs)

  • Prioritize and set expectations around key deliverables with cross-functional team and peers.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with 2-3 years of experience as a Planning/Inventory Analyst and 1-3 years in retail buying, planning, or a related analytical field.

  • Technical Skills: Essential proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn new technical applications.

  • Business Acumen: A strong understanding of financial measurements (sales, gross margin, inventory productivity like SSR), the ability to interpret business results to formulate strategy, and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Communication & Influence: Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills, the ability to formally present strategies, and an aptitude for negotiation and influencing cross-functional teams.

  • Teamwork & Adaptability: The capacity to build productive relationships, high flexibility, adaptability to changing priorities, and effective workload organization to meet deadlines.
