MIMS (MediMarketing, Inc.) in Metro Manila is seeking a Medical Publication Writer to develop publication content for peer‑reviewed journals and congresses, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and slide content.
You will work from clinical data and literature to prepare clear drafts that communicate evidence accurately for specialist medical audiences, while upholding Good Publication Practice and disclosure expectations.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Develop scientifically accurate, well-structured publication content for peer-reviewed journals and congresses, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentation materials, plain language summaries, and publication-related slide content.
Work from clinical data, literature, author direction, and client briefs to prepare clear publication drafts that communicate evidence accurately and appropriately for specialist medical audiences.
Support publication development in line with established industry standards, including Good Publication Practice, ICMJE authorship and disclosure expectations, and relevant reporting guidelines such as CONSORT and other EQUATOR Network resources where applicable.
Conduct targeted literature reviews, reference checks, data extraction, fact checking, and quality control to ensure scientific accuracy, consistency, and appropriate citation of source material.
Prepare publication outlines, first drafts, revised drafts, response-to-reviewer content, figure and table legends, and associated submission-ready materials under guidance from senior writers and editorial leads.
Coordinate comments from authors, clients, reviewers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring revisions are addressed clearly, accurately, and within agreed timelines.
Maintain awareness of journal and congress requirements, including formatting, word count, referencing, disclosure, acknowledgements, and submission requirements.Collaborate professionally with authors, key opinion leaders, clients, project managers, medical editors, and account teams to support efficient and ethical publication delivery.
Contribute to internal knowledge sharing by building therapy area familiarity, applying editorial feedback, and developing stronger publication-writing judgement over time.
Key requirements
Graduate degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, public health, biomedical sciences, or a related scientific discipline; a higher degree is advantageous but not essential.
At least 1 year of existing experience writing or substantially contributing to peer-reviewed medical or scientific publications, ideally within a medical communications agency, publisher, CRO, pharmaceutical company, academic, or healthcare research environment.
Demonstrated ability to write clear, accurate scientific content for publication outputs such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, congress presentations, literature reviews, or plain language summaries.
Working knowledge of publication ethics and industry expectations, including transparency, appropriate acknowledgement of medical writing support, authorship principles, disclosure requirements, and accurate reporting of data
Ability to interpret clinical and scientific information, identify the key message, and present complex data in a concise and balanced way for healthcare professional audiences.
