Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer – HVAC and Ducting Works is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, including ducting systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The role ensures that HVAC systems operate efficiently, comply with engineering standards, and meet project specification.

Key Responsibilities
1. Design and Engineering
- Design HVAC systems including air distribution, ducting layout, and ventilation systems.
- Prepare load calculations, duct sizing, equipment selection, and system layouts.
- Develop HVAC drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and local building codes.
2. Project Execution
- Supervise installation of HVAC equipment, ducting, insulation, and ventilation systems.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, and architectural teams during construction.
- Ensure all HVAC works are performed according to approved drawings and project specifications.
3. Site Supervision
- Monitor duct fabrication and installation activities.
- Inspect HVAC components including air handling units (AHU), chillers, FCUs, and ventilation fans.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with safety standards
4. Testing and Commissioning
- Perform testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of HVAC systems.
- Conduct system inspections and ensure proper airflow and system performance.
- Prepare commissioning reports and documentation.
5. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose HVAC system issues and implement corrective actions.
- Plan preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC equipment.
- Ensure optimal system performance and energy efficiency.
6. Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare technical reports, method statements, and material submittals.
- Maintain records of inspections, installations, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with project managers and clients for progress updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license (preferred depending on country).
- 3–5 years experience in HVAC design and ducting works.
- Knowledge of HVAC design software and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with HVAC standards such as ASHRAE and SMACNA guidelines.
