Job summary

Ocean Transport Group of Companies, Inc. is seeking a seasoned mariner to assume the role of Chief Officer/Bridge Watch Leader. The candidate must hold a Master Mariner/OIC-NW license and have completed multiple voyages as Chief Officer aboard suitable vessels.

The role emphasizes safety management, vessel seaworthiness, and rigorous adherence to class certificates, permits, and the company SMS. Strong leadership, communication, and readiness for drills are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed OIC-NW/MASTER MARINER.
• Completed at least two voyages as Chief officer on a type of vessel which he commanded.
• Must exhibit his communication skills by actual demonstration.
• Demonstrated satisfactory knowledge and understanding of Companies SMS.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the overall safety of the crews, cargoes, and the vessel.
• Ensures that all the Class and Trading Certificates, Permits and other documents are valid and complete
• Conducts evaluation of all the Officers under him and assesses their qualification and performance on their respective assignments/tasks.
• Ensures that all navigational and communication equipment are properly maintained, in good condition and ready for use.
• Ensures the vessel's seaworthiness before leaving the port.
• Conducts safety drills and exercises of all identified emergencies in accordance with the established schedule
• Ensures that the pilot is well informed about the vessel's maneuvering capabilities and other data that he may require for safe passage.
• Ensures vessel's safety while in port and properly secured alongside.
• Ensures that the bridge is manned at all times. Command of the vessel must be turned over properly to a vessel officer if it's necessary to leave the vessel.
