Job summary

CIMMYT is seeking an Assistant Research Associate to assist planning and execution of research activities, especially in germplasm introduction, regeneration, processing, and distribution.

The role emphasizes data capture, quality control, and compliance with international standards in a multinational research setting in Mexico.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Agronomy, Biosciences or related field, or equivalent years of work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in plant breeding, seed science or crops research.
• Knowledge of international research standards, including FAO, Genesys or ISO.
• Intermediate English (B2).
• Intermediate MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage research activities related to germplasm introduction, regeneration, processing, conservation, and distribution.
• Carry on the Germplasm Bank's technical, logistical, documentation, and training operations
• Supervise and apply rigorous quality control to passport, characterization, and evaluation data.
• Support the review of internal and external audits through the documenting of findings, nonconformities and corrective actions.
• Facilitate guided visits and awareness-raising activities.

We are seeking a proactive Assistant Research Associate to support the planning and execution of research activities, ensuring high standards of quality, compliance, and operational efficiency. The position is responsible for managing research activities, supporting distribution processes and improving physical and digital data capture formats.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage research activities related to germplasm introduction, regeneration, processing, conservation, and distribution.
• Carry on the Germplasm Bank's technical, logistical, documentation, and training operations
• Supervise and apply rigorous quality control to passport, characterization, and evaluation data.
• Support the review of internal and external audits trough the documenting of findings, nonconformities and corrective actions.
• Facilitate guided visits and awareness-raising activities.
