About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Legal Drafting Specialist to provide high-level legal drafting and research support across commercial, corporate, intellectual property, M&A, litigation, and property matters.
This is a legal drafting-focused position, not a general administrative role. The successful candidate will prepare high-quality first drafts based on instructions, precedents, and research, with all work reviewed by supervising solicitors before use.
The role requires strong legal knowledge, excellent written English, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to understand the legal and commercial intent behind instructions.
Key Responsibilities
Legal & Commercial Drafting
- Draft and review commercial contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
- Prepare documentation relating to M&A, corporate structuring, capital raising, shareholders' agreements, and subscription agreements.
- Draft manufacturing, distribution, supply, SaaS, franchise, and joint venture agreements.
- Prepare employment contracts, incentive plans, and other corporate documentation.
- Draft correspondence to clients, counterparties, and third parties.
Intellectual Property
- Prepare and assist with trade mark applications and IP documentation.
- Draft IP assignment and licensing agreements.
- Conduct trade mark and IP searches and prepare summaries.
- Assist with cease-and-desist correspondence and other IP-related documentation.
Litigation & Dispute Support
- Draft letters of demand, statements of claim, defences, and legal correspondence.
- Prepare affidavits, witness statements, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with court documents, briefs to counsel, and court books.
- Prepare settlement deeds, costs agreements, and enforcement documentation.
- Conduct legal research and prepare concise research memoranda.
Property & Corporate Matters
- Draft and review commercial leases and property documentation.
- Assist with building and property dispute matters.
- Conduct property, title, ASIC, and company searches.
- Prepare company and business structuring documentation.
Legal Research & Administration
- Conduct research into legislation, case law, regulations, and procedural requirements.
- Review instructions and identify missing information, risks, or ambiguities.
- Maintain accurate matter-related documentation and records.
- Contribute to the development of legal precedents, templates, and drafting workflows.
AI & Legal Technology
- Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Spellbook, or similar platforms to improve drafting efficiency and research.
- Use legal practice management and document management systems to manage matter-related work.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when using technology and AI tools for legal work.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with solicitors and other legal support team members.
- Participate in regular virtual meetings and daily communication.
- Proactively raise questions, clarify instructions, and flag potential issues.
- Support the development of a consistent and efficient legal drafting process.
Requirements
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
- 3+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably involving legal drafting.
- Strong experience drafting legal documents, contracts, and correspondence.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong understanding of commercial and corporate legal concepts.
- Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Ability to understand the purpose and intent behind legal instructions.
- Strong legal research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work across multiple areas of law.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a remote team.
- Comfortable working with technology and learning new legal systems.
Highly Preferred
- Experience working with an Australian law firm or Australian legal matters.
- Experience in commercial law, M&A, corporate law, or intellectual property.
- Experience with Australian trade mark or IP processes.
- Experience with LEAP or similar legal practice management software.
- Experience preparing legal precedents and templates.
- Experience with M&A documentation or capital raising.
- Experience working with startups, franchising, or growth businesses.
- Practical experience using AI tools for legal drafting and research.

Working Arrangement
This is a full-time position based in the Philippines, working in alignment with Australian business hours and observing applicable Australian public holidays.
The successful candidate will work closely with the legal team through Microsoft Teams and legal practice management systems.
All legal work will be completed under the supervision and review of qualified practising solicitors. The successful candidate will not independently provide legal services or legal advice.
