Job summary

Dyson is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to design and develop market-leading products for the global market. You will drive for results, set clear objectives, and manage prototypes and technical specifications.

You will collaborate with Technical Leads, Engineering Managers and stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery within cost and quality constraints. The role requires deep design experience across plastics, rubber or metal, with strong DFx understanding, and a passion for improving product

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of design and product development experience on complex technical problems.
• Ability to lead a project team or work as an individual contributor delivering products to production on time, cost and specification.
• Self-driven and independent with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and 2D drawings with GD&T and tolerancing.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver product design & assemblies to production on time, on cost, on quality and on specification.
• Plan and prioritize tasks based on risk and interdependencies.
• Define design requirements with clear objectives.
• Tackle high-risk engineering problems with robust design and documentation.
• Provide guidance, set goals, and delegate tasks to team members.
• Lead reviews with Technical Leads, Engineering Managers & head of Department.
• Review and approve 3D models, drawings, BOMs and technical specs.
• Manage building functional prototype products for testing and demonstration.
• Analyze test failures and develop efficient solutions.
• Drive sustaining work to improve quality, reduce costs, and improve throughput.
• Collaborate with other leads and system owners to ensure timely inputs.
• Lead department-level change projects to improve efficiency.
