Hlfppt in the Philippines is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to support smear preparation, staining, and microscopy for TB detection using NAAT methods on sputum, EPTB, and paediatric samples.
You will maintain registers, ensure timely reporting to the Medical Officer, and coordinate with staff for prompt testing under the NTEP diagnostic algorithm. Training and QA support are expected as part of the role.

Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for smear preparation, staining, microscopy, reporting, and M. tuberculosis detection using modern NAAT methods for sputum, EPTB, and paediatric TB samples.
Maintain laboratory registers and ensure timely reporting of results to the Medical Officer and project team.
Coordinate with staff to ensure prompt testing of pulmonary and extra-pulmonary samples following the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) diagnostic algorithm.
Assist the Medical Officer in identifying MDR-TB suspects and ensure proper collection and transportation of sputum specimens for Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) per guidelines.
Oversee and supervise the safe disposal of contaminated laboratory materials in compliance with the Laboratory Manual.
Support the Senior TB Laboratory Supervisor (STLS) in implementing NTEP Laboratory Quality Assurance measures.
Assist in the rollout and implementation of new TB diagnostic tools within NTEP.
Facilitate the adoption and effective use of NIKSHAY tools for data entry, validation, and public health action.
Intermediate (10+2) and Diploma or certified course in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
One year experience in NTEP sample testing using Sputum smear microscopy and NAAT testing.
Candidates with Higher qualification (for example Graduates) shall be preferred.
