Job summary

Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. seeks a detail-oriented researcher in Makati City to collect and analyze financial regulatory documents from SEC Edgar and fund sites, feeding a proprietary system and client reports.

You will verify calculations, ensure data quality, and collaborate with global teams to deliver timely mutual fund and ETF data while expanding your cross-functional responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Finance, Business, or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Use SEC Edgar, regulatory sites, mutual fund sites, and web sources to collect financial regulatory documents.
• Gather financial regulatory documents for open-end/closed-end funds and ETFs for a library and analysis.
• Read collected documents to extract key data and input into a proprietary system.
• Verify calculations produced by a system before publication to clients and reports.
• Perform data quality assurance and identify data quality issues.
• Collaborate with team members in the Philippines and the U.S. to deliver data timely.
• Cross-train and expand responsibilities across research tasks.
• Tag mutual fund strategies for client-facing applications.
• Summarize industry changes in a weekly newsletter.

This will be under Market Intelligence MarketPulse Fee & Expense Team. Responsibilities

• Utilize the SEC Edgar and other regional regulatory websites, mutual fund company websites, and the Internet to gather financial regulatory documents
• Collect financial regulatory documents of open-end, closed-end, and variable annuity mutual funds and ETFs for a document library and further analysis
• Read through the collected financial regulatory documents to capture key industry data from and put it into a proprietary system.
• Verify calculations done by a proprietary system before it is released to client-facing applications and used for research reports.
• Conduct data quality assurance: identifying and analyzing data quality issues
• Work collaboratively with team members both in the Philippines and in the U.S. to deliver mutual fund and ETF data to clients on timely basis
• Actively cross-train and expand opportunities to work on various related research responsibilities
• Read and understand mutual fund investment strategies and objectives to properly tag them for client-facing applications
• Determine relevant and interesting industry changes and summarize findings in a weekly newsletter
• Create and update documentation of work processes and maintain institutional knowledge in a centralized, web-based database
• Support relevant process improvements, as well as technology projects, by contributing to specifications and testing deliverables
• Special projects as assigned
• Keep up to date on financial industry news and market trends

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Finance, Business, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
• Strong mathematical skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated troubleshooting, follow-through, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment (can thrive in a cross-border / multi-cultural team)
• Experience working with any of the following would be a plus: With at least a year of relative work experience gathering and analyzing financial data.
• Proficiency in using MS Excel for financial data manipulation and preparation.
• Familiarity with annual reports and board reporting (15c, AoV)
• Knowledge of mutual fund fee structures

Work Location & Schedule

• Amenable working at Makati City on a permanent late dayshift schedule (12nn- 9pm, Manila Time)
• Amenable to undergo 3-6 months of onsite training prior to transitioning to hybrid working arrangement
• Hybrid working arrangement (at least 3 days' work onsite per week)
