Job summary

Kinettix in Manila is seeking a Junior SOC Analyst to monitor and respond to security incidents. You will triage alerts and act as the first line of defense in our organization.

You will use Microsoft Defender and other security tools to detect threats, document incidents, and support SOC process improvements while developing your knowledge in cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and its related tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
• Good working knowledge on various security technologies.
• Solid understanding of application security frameworks.
• Ability to monitor systems and detect subtle anomalies.
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges, as well as the ability to conduct independent research.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report incidents and collaborate with team members.
• Strong analytical skills to investigate and respond to security incidents.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and Detection: Continuous Monitoring using Defender and other security tools.
• Threat Detection: Identify potential threats and anomalies in real-time; perform initial triage and escalation as needed.
• Threat Analysis and Intelligence: Basic analysis and vulnerability assessments; stay updated via threat feeds.
• Threat Intelligence: Utilize threat intel feeds to stay informed about latest threats and vulnerabilities.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly security reports.
• Incident Documentation: Record details of security incidents, actions taken and outcomes.
• Security Tool Management: Assist in configuring and maintaining security tools and technologies.
• Tool Optimization: Ensure tools are optimized for effective detection and response.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in SOC process improvements and procedures.
• Training and Development: Engage in ongoing training to stay current with cybersecurity trends.
