Job Description
The IT Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in a variety of Information Technology (IT) subjects to students at all levels. This includes planning and delivering engaging lectures, conducting laboratory sessions, assessing student performance, and providing academic guidance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction:
- Develop and deliver engaging and effective lectures, labs, and other instructional materials.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, group projects, and hands‑on exercises.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Incorporate current industry best practices and technologies into the curriculum.
- Assist in the development, review, and revision of IT curricula.
- Design and implement innovative teaching strategies and assessment methods.
- Stay abreast of advancements in technology and industry trends.
Student Assessment:
- Develop and administer a variety of assessments, including quizzes, exams, projects, and presentations.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic progress.
- Maintain accurate student records and grades.
Student Support:
- Provide academic guidance and support to students.
- Advise students on career paths and educational opportunities in the field of IT.
- Assist students with academic difficulties and personal challenges.
Professional Development:
- Participate in professional development activities, such as workshops, conferences, and seminars.
- Maintain professional certifications and licenses as required.
- Stay current with advancements in technology and pedagogy.
Other Duties:
- Participate in department meetings and other university‑wide activities.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment and software.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
Experience:
- Proven experience in instructional design and delivery.
- Experience with a variety of IT technologies and software.
Skills:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
