Job Title: Inventory Clerk
Job Summary: An Inventory Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining the stock levels of goods, materials, or products within a warehouse, storage facility, or retail environment. They perform a variety of tasks to ensure the accurate tracking, storage, and movement of inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, count, and verify incoming shipments and compare them with purchase orders.
- Record and update inventory data in the system to track stock levels and movements.
- Organize inventory storage, ensuring items are stored in proper locations and conditions.
- Perform regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
- Prepare and process inventory transfers, shipments, and returns.
- Assist with inventory audits and investigations into discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and order products or materials as necessary to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and other departments to resolve inventory-related issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of inventory areas.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certifications, such as in logistics or inventory management).
Experience
- Previous experience in inventory management, warehouse, retail, or logistics roles is preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory tracking systems and software is a plus.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and recording inventory.
- Good organizational skills to ensure proper storage and easy retrieval of items.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction).
- Proficiency in using computer systems and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).
- Basic knowledge of supply chain and logistics practices.
Physical Abilities
- Ability to lift and move products, sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs or more.
- Comfort with standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle various products and tools in inventory management.
Communication Skills
- Ability to clearly communicate with team members, vendors, and supervisors.
- Strong written communication skills for creating accurate reports and inventory records.
