Overview
The Vulcanizing Shop Helper supports the daily operations of the vulcanization department by assisting in the preparation of materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe, clean working environment. The role requires attention to detail, basic mechanical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Material Preparation: Assist in preparing rubber materials for vulcanization, including cleaning, cutting, and assembling parts as needed.
- Equipment Support: Help set up, monitor, and maintain vulcanizing equipment, such as presses and ovens.
- Inspection & Quality Control: Assist in inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards. Report any defects or issues with the vulcanization process.
- Maintenance Assistance: Perform basic maintenance tasks, including cleaning equipment, lubricating machines, and reporting any malfunctioning machinery.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed to maintain a safe working environment, including the use of protective gear and equipment.
- Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management of rubber materials, chemicals, and other supplies necessary for the vulcanization process.
- Record Keeping: Help maintain records of production, materials used, and machine performance as required by supervisors.
- General Labor: Perform other general labor tasks, such as lifting and moving heavy materials, keeping work areas clean, and assisting senior workers as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is a plus.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of vulcanizing equipment.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong focus on safety and adherence to all safety guidelines.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork abilities.
