Job Purpose

The Graphic Designer/ PrePress is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of detailed proofing and construction-ready design documentation for signage projects. This role bridges the gap between concept design, engineering, manufacturing, and on-site installation, ensuring all designs are fully compliant, buildable, and aligned with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Documentation

• Interpret project work orders, architectural drawings, and specifications to produce high-quality, construction-ready signage designs.
• Develop detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation details.
• Ensure all designs meet structural, engineering, and compliance requirements.
• Prepare accurate production files for manufacturing, including CNC, laser cutting, and printing outputs.
• Review and approve artwork for production suitability and overall constructability.
• Apply extensive knowledge of materials, fixings, and structural requirements across all design outputs.

2. Project Coordination

• Liaise directly with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Production, and Project Management teams.
• Identify and resolve potential design, manufacturing, or installation challenges early in the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all design deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with project scope.

3. Technical & Construction Integration

• Read, interpret, and integrate construction drawings, site plans, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure designs fully comply with Australian Standards, local building codes, and WHS (Workplace Health & Safety) requirements.

4. Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)

• Ensure all designs incorporate safe construction and installation practices.
• Identify potential design risks and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.
• Comply with all legislative mandates and company WHS policies and procedures.
• Promote a safety-first culture across all project phases.

5. Project Governance & Quality Control

• Support and maintain project scope, timelines, and deliverable commitments.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation, including revision tracking and sign-off approvals.
• Monitor quality standards to ensure final outputs meet both company and client expectations.
• Identify project risks and elevate issues where required.
• Continuously contribute to the improvement of design processes and team workflows.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

• Education: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Design, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in signage, construction, or fabrication design.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methodologies and on-site installation processes.
  • Proven experience working with construction documentation, architectural blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects and tight deadlines concurrently.
• Technical Skills:
  • High proficiency in design and drafting software (e.g., CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator).
  • Hands-on experience preparing production-ready files for CNC machining, routing, laser cutting, and large-format printing.
  • Strong knowledge of structural materials, including aluminum, steel, and composite products.
  • Deep understanding of signage systems, fixings, and installation methodologies.
